REGISTRATION Policies
Admissions
Unless otherwise indicated, Continuing Studies registrants must be at least 18 years of age. We reserve the right to refuse to register an applicant or expel a registrant whose actions disrupt the operation of a course.
In order to attend a course, you must be registered prior to the course start date. We reserve the right to refuse an applicant access to the course if not registered.
Fee Payments
Your registration is complete when we receive your full fee payment. We do not accept post-dated cheques. If your payment is returned (e.g., an NSF cheque), it must be replaced with a certified cheque or cash and a service charge is levied.
Harmonized Sales Tax
In cases where courses are taxable, 12% HST will be applied to the course fee.
Confirmation Email
After processing your registration, we will send you an email confirmation letter of course details. If you have not received your email confirmation letter within 3 business days of registering please contact Client Services by phone at 604-822-1420 or complete the Contact Us form.
Prerequisites
In order to maximize your UBC Continuing Studies learning experience, please ensure that you meet the prerequisite(s) as indicated online or in the course calendar. If you choose to waive the prerequisite(s), there wil be no refund if you are unable to complete the course due to content.
Fees and Cancellation Policies
All fees are payable in Canadian dollars. Tax is indicated beside course fees where applicable.
If you would like to withdraw from a course, please contact our office by telephone at 604-822-1420 at least three business days prior to the start of the course to be eligible for a refund, less a $50 administration fee. No refunds will be made for cancellations after that time. Separate policies apply to certificate programs.
UBC Continuing Studies is sometimes forced to cancel courses due to insufficient enrolment or other reasons. If this occurs, a full refund is processed and sent to you automatically.
Special withdrawal and cancellation policies apply to certificate and international programs. Please consult the appropriate certificate program web site for full details.
Course Transfers
Transferring from one course to another or changing from one section to another of the same course, within three business days of the course start date, is considered a cancellation and a new registration. A $50 administration fee will be charged for the cancellation.
Transferring to another course or section, once a course has began, is not available.
Waitlists
Waitlists will only be utilized, if a space becomes available, within 3 business days prior to the course start date. Being on the waitlist does not guarantee you will be able to register in the course. It is strongly recommended to register for upcoming sessions as they appear on the web site.
